Eurus

Sky painted a forget-me-not blue,
Sun, a gentle buttery yellow,
Clouds worthy of Olympus
like spun sugar, hung low,
And a warm breeze ruffled hair and grass alike;
The signs bode of a most pleasant summer.

The lake lay serene and calm,
Save for the naiads natant
in their ethereal beauty.
Like a mirror reflecting
the beauty of the sky,
Like a blue gem,
Nestled in the heart of nature’s green

The buzz of the cicadas crescendoed,
Accentuated by the occasional melodious bird song;
It was the symphony of the forest,
Making even the trees sway in tune.

Leaves rustled with a flurry of dryads,
Whispering secrets of the forest
in a tongue of yore,
Arcane to the mortal ear.

Molten sunlight glinted past the canopy above,
Looking like gold suspended
in a vast sea of jade,
Filtering through the overhanging foliage
to dance on mossy forest floor.

The air buzzed
with a sanguine assurance,
And in that moment of tranquility
I allowed myself to be lulled
into a peaceful slumber
by the warm east wind.
